The story of Lolth is well known in Keren.  As Araushnee of the Seldarine she was Corellon's own consort but became jealous of the Celestine's power and conspired with Gruumsh to defeat him. Corellon escaped from the trap she had laid for him. Her betrayal was revealed to him and the Celestial Court by Bocob. Araushnee was captured and transformed into a hideous spider demon so she could never beguile the gods again with her beauty and cast into the Abyss, where she adopted the name Lolth. All of the Eladrin who had been in her service during her betrayal were stripped of their own immortality and banished to the Prime Material Plane. One third of them remained loyal to the fallen Seldarine and became the progenitors of the Drow. With their active worship and the creation of the Underdark, Lolth has become one of the most formidable and notorious fiends within the Abyss, where she continues to plot against the Celestines and everything they hold dear.
